Email an ecommerce customer

Open this in Talisk HQ

You can email a storefront customer from wherever you happen to be looking at them. Every route opens the same compose window with the To address already filled in.

From a customer:

  1. Go to Ecommerce › Customers.
  2. Click Email at the end of the customer's row, or open the customer and click Email customer in the header.

From an order:

  1. Go to Ecommerce › Orders.
  2. Click Email at the end of the order's row, or click the row to open the order and use Email customer in the header.

From the dashboard:

  1. Go to Ecommerce › Overview and scroll to the recent orders tables.
  2. Click Email on the order's row. Clicking anywhere else on the row opens the full order, the same view the Orders tab shows.

If you want to know who you are writing to before you write, open the order and press Open contact in the Details card. That shows their other orders, what they have spent with you, and any notes you have kept.

When the message is opened from an order, the subject is pre-filled with that order number so the customer knows what you're writing about. Edit anything you like before sending. If a customer shows no Email button, the store has no address on file for them.

If you have more than one mailbox connected, check the From selector at the top of the message: customer emails default to the mailbox assigned to the store's book, so your reply thread stays in the business account. You can pick a different account before sending. Replies always go out from the account the conversation lives in, whichever mailbox you happen to be viewing.

Good to know: This opens your normal Talisk compose window with the customer's address filled in, so it needs a connected mailbox. Nothing is sent until you write the message and click Send. The Email button only appears when the store gave us an address for that customer, and it is hidden for bookkeeper sessions (mail is read-only for them). With more than one connected mailbox, the message sends from the account assigned to the store's book, shown in the From selector.
