Why Talisk exists
Talisk started with a frustration every online seller knows: the books are always behind. Orders, payouts, fees, refunds and supplier bills move fast, and reconciling them by hand is the last thing you want to do at the end of a long day. So it piles up, and you find out what you actually made months too late.
The tools that were supposed to help weren't built for how small businesses actually work. Generic accounting software makes you do the ecommerce plumbing yourself. Bookkeeping services take your shoebox and hand it back a month later. And almost none of it understands Canadian sales tax properly.
We thought the books should just keep themselves, reading the invoices, receipts and payouts that already land in your inbox, posting them correctly, and staying current so the numbers are there when you need them. That's Talisk.

Independent, and built in Canada
Talisk is an independent, founder-led company based in British Columbia, built by someone who runs an online business and got tired of the books being a month behind. We're not chasing scale for its own sake. We're building a tool small-business owners choose because it earns its place, and keeping it that way for the long haul.
Talisk does the bookkeeping. It codes the transactions, reconciles the accounts, closes the month and produces the reporting pack and the working papers, so year-end is a hand-off rather than a rebuild. What it doesn't do is the judgment: the adjusting entries, the depreciation, the tax strategy, the filing itself. That work stays with the accountant, and often the accountant is our customer, running a whole roster of clients on Talisk.
